This is the exploration music of world 4, The Living Walls.
As a reference to (track 7:) 'Sentient Ooze', this is the 'exciting good trip' as opposed to a 'heavy bad trip'.
As I heard the plans for this area I knew I wanted to make something mellow, chill and somewhat playful and wonderous.
This is a place where the walls are made of some weird jelly and sometimes they also blink and mushrooms make a squeaky sound.
I wanted the player to feel a bunch of feelings from happiness to sadness to curiosity to kindness and warmth. Very much the opposite
to a heavy bad trip, very much so.
Tonally, the whole idea was built around a probabilistic/generative sequence made with an iPhone app called 'Xynthesizr' and then
editing various samples out of that to build a song structure out of. At this time I was really feeling fusion jazz and wanted to try some of those elements in this tune as I felt like they would fit the soundscape thematically. I played a bunch of percussions and layered them on top of each other, with one of my favourites being just a bunch of drumsticks being shaken together, sounds a bit like flagpole ropes flapping in the wind.

Some of my favorite music ever, not even just for video games. Perfectly captures how tense and exciting, yet how deliberate and thoughtful the gameplay of Into The Breach is. Just spectacular! potpi
