This is the music for the boss of The Still Bastion, Candlemask.
PUSH - KLAK - PUSH - KLAK, I really wanted the beginning to hit hard and be somewhat regal. Similar to the Frozen Keep, push and pull, this time the guitars have a bit more "clack" to them to give more flow to the rhythm. The player has defeated the second level, they have THE POWER, well, until around the halfway point where the tides turn, Candlemask is angry and the action ramps up. You can hear faint screams in the background too, -the birth of our development chat music meme, the tomato can! I think this might have been the time I got my first Modular Synthesizer, the MOOG DFAM and put it in good use! You can hear it in the very first riff, right there alongside the guitars, the synth riff came first and I just backed it up with the guitars.
One of my favourite sound moments was the advent of "sick bassdrum strechy note" at 01:01 -> 01:02, it was half-accident too,
I just thought "maybe stretching something here would be nice" and first thing to pop in mind was the bassdrum with some overdrive, glad it was that!
Some of my favorite music ever, not even just for video games. Perfectly captures how tense and exciting, yet how deliberate and thoughtful the gameplay of Into The Breach is. Just spectacular! potpi
